Notes on Reading 2/15/15

As always, I do not have just one book that I’m currently reading.  Sometimes I want to be that person who reads one book at a time.  And then I try doing that and am too lazy to get up to get my book from my purse,  so I pick up a random one in my bedroom.

Currently reading: I finally (FINALLY!) subscribed to Oyster this week which makes me so happy.  Sometimes I don’t have a book on me but I have my phone, and this is perfect for those moments when I want to spend a few minutes with a book but only have my phone.  So, I started reading The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2011 which was edited my Mary Roach.  I’m also still reading A Rogue by Any Other Name  and Everlasting Lane.

This week I finished: The Storied Like of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin (which was so great-book lovers need to read it).  Also Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander.

Comics: Still reading Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness.  Also I have added way too many to my wishlist but can’t purchase any right now because of the flooring I’m putting in upstairs *sigh*

About Kelly

Hi! My name’s Kelly. I’m a twenty-something gal from Buffalo, NY. Mom to a little dog named Peabody and a slightly evil cat named Archie. Engaged to the best dude ever. I love books and craft beer! I also love all things France and francophone and have a degree in French Language and Literature from Buffalo State College. My blog used to be called Kelly’s France Blog, but I finally decided it needed a change because I wasn’t posting about French things nearly as often as I used to! You can still see all my imported posts on A Book and a Beer, or you can visit my original blog at

Lately I’ve been reading several books at once too – not sure why I’ve changed, but I still seem to be finishing them all, so that’s good. (In the past if I read more than one at once, nearly always one or more would get abandoned.)

I’m so glad you enjoyed The Storied Like of A.J. Fikry – it’s very high on my TBR list – just sitting on my nightstand now. Saving it until I finish a few review books and books for an upcoming travels, and then I’ll start it – very excited to read it! 🙂

It’s definitely a great read! Perfect for book club discussions. I can’t wait to talk about it next week.
When I’ve abandoned books in the past it’s also usually when I’m reading multiple books. I think now I read more what I want and less what I feel I should be reading. So instead of reading multiple because I’m uninterested in a book I’m reading multiple because I’m so excited to be reading all the books.
